Things don't "just happen"....Great is the Lord

I woke up this morning and read my devotion.  I waited on my prayers because I had an urgency about my Ladies Bible Study tomorrow morning and I felt like I had to take care of it.  Tomorrow's lesson requires a powerpoint presentation that I completed months ago and I was just going to review it.  I looked for my flash drive with the material on it and could not locate it.  I did not panic, I merely looked through my other flash drives and my hard drive to see if I had saved it somewhere else.  You guessed it....I had not!  So now I begin to panic a little.  I remove all my books, materials, supplies and everything else from my computer hutch looking for that flash drive.  I found pictures I had lost, my favorite pen, un-used ink cartridges but no flash drive.  I did find a "paper-copy" of the presentation but that does me no good.  Frustrated, and way behind on time, I decide to move on to my prayer time.

I put in my favorite CD, get on my knees and remember a time when a co-worker came to me as his supervisor and said "Sarge, I lost my ID."  In the police world, that is a major issue.  He had looked for hours and retraced his steps before telling me.  I remember going to his office and praying "God give me eyes to see that ID if it is in this room."  Two seconds later, I saw the ID.  The magnet portion of it was attached to a metal suitcase handle on the floor.  I can assure you I gave God all the glory when I told him I found it.  Today, I was praying for the same kind of revelation.

On my knees, I began by praying for the needs and prayer requests of the bible study members in my class.  I gradually moved into praying for "God to give me eyes to locate the flash drive" for class tomorrow.  You may think that I just had a "senior" moment but I can assure you I did not.  Immediately upon voicing those words, I heard my husband's voice in my head saying "I am going to hang this flash drive on this door so you don't lose it." I froze.  Being in the middle of a prayer, I did not dare open my eyes to look.  I chose to believe that God had revealed to me where it was and that it would be there when I was finished with my prayer time.

When I got up and looked, there it was.  The flash drive hanging on the knob.  We have to believe that our God is faithful.  Even when things look grim...I was already to begin a monumental task from scratch...we have to believe that our God is faithful.

I once heard a pastor ask "Is prayer your first response or your last resort?"  Think about it then make your move.

You will see it with your own eyes and say "Great is the Lord-even beyond the borders of Israel!"
Malachi 1:5
