I wear contacts to see better. They correct my distance vision but do nothing for my reading vision. I have joined the likes of many of my friends who now wear "readers" or more affectionately known as "cheaters." I did good however; it was only recently that I discovered my need.
I am not one to do without. I have a pair in my purse along with my regular prescribed pair but it doesn't stop there. There is a pair on my night stand, a pair at my computer hutch, one on the kitchen counter, and a pair in my car. They are everywhere and they are fashionable. Pink, purple, brown, gray all nice pairs. I WILL have a pair of glasses when I need them.
Today, I was preparing my lesson for Sunday and as I was researching, I pulled out my Bible. I read the scripture and decided I needed my study Bible. Yep, you guessed it. Just like my "cheaters" I have a Bible on my nightstand, my computer hutch, a study Bible, a large print Bible, a law enforcement Bible, a Woman's devotional Bible and so on.
I have to have my glasses in order to find my way, I cannot get far without them. So it is
with the Word of God. Without my glasses I am lost. Without the Word of God I am lost. When I want to see clearly I rely on my cheaters. When I need to see clearly I rely on the Word of God but in order to get that direction, I have to actually read it. With or without cheaters.
Open my eyes that I may see wonderful things in your law. Psalms 119:18
